We kicked off October with a gorgeous wedding in Baltimore's historic Mount Vernon. Katy and Manju were married at the Mount Vernon Methodist Church, followed by a reception at the Peabody Library. Chefs Expressions set the stage for a sumptuous four course meal beautifully run by Bonny Opper.

Gettysburg Engagement!

The 17th of July was one of those fairly hot days, but not too, too hot. The perfect day for an engagement session. And, this engagement session would be somewhere I had never photographed before! Our clients, Lauren and Brian are getting married this October 16th at the Cloisters. They had met while both were attending Gettysburg College. So, photographing their session around the College and the Battlefield would be a fun adventure for me as well!

On the battleground - Brian, a history major, provided lots of great history of the great battle.

We had the pleasure of shooting Lauren and Dan's engagement session last week in Mount Vernon Park. They were both so natural in front of the camera. We had such a blast!

Lauren and Dan met on the Raven's field as they both moved to the area to be Raven's cheerleaders. What a wonderful way to meet!

They are getting married at the American Visionary Arts Museum in November and we cannot wait to share the day with them again! An absolutely beautiful couple.

They were then shuttled by Trolley to Christ Lutheran Church, where they exchanged vows.

What a gorgeous way to start July - a wedding at Baltimore's funnest (is this a word??) waterfront venue the Baltimore Museum of Industry. And, this was definitely one of my all time favorite weddings this year. Elise and Bobby did not do the "traditional" wedding, but instead had a fun, laid back day - complete with Chuck Taylors and bowties! Elise kept her Lauraville ties by having updo's by Lisa Hawks of Chop Shop and make up by Sarah Clement.. After some great photographs of the girls and guys seaprately in the courtyard of the Fairfield Inn with the old beer still and around the1840's Ballroom, we headed off for a very emotional ceremony at the BMI.

Lora & Brian at the Baltimore Museum of Art

What better time of the year to have an engagement photo session than the Summer Soltstice and at one of my favorite places to take pictures, the beautiful facade of the Baltimore Museum of Art. Joined with the lovely Lisa Martel of "Oh So Pretty Props" (look them up on Facebook), we had a great time and I had the opportunity to get to know a whole lot more about how Lora and Brian found each other.

So, how did Brian propose? He proposed at my family's summer home on the Chesapeake Bay. It was Labor day weekend and he waited until near sunset and took me down to the dock (he said he needed help putting some chairs away) and then got down on one knee. My family was there and knew the plan and his parents were coming up the next day for a crab feast. So it was one big family celebration! It was perfect, because that home (we call it "The Cottage") is my most cherished place in the world and where I spent my summers growing up.
What Lora's looking forward to most on the 29th: "I am looking forward to actually finally getting to say that the man I love is my husband! I am looking forward to getting all our family and friends together and celebrate our love for each other and our new stage in life as a unit."
Honeymoon? "We don't have official plans yet for a honeymoon. We are hoping to go to Bora Bora and stay on a hut on the ocean. However, we are waiting to see where Brian decides to go to grad school to figure out when we can go."
Lora and Brian are getting married at Herrington on the Bay on October 29th of this year.

Maranda and Gregory had a true fairytale wedding at the Tremont Grand. They were married in the beautiful Edinburgh Hall with a reception to follow in the Corinthian Room.

The flowers were done by Flowers and Fancies, the cake was provided by Sugar Bakers, and David Morley did the videography. It was an absolutely gorgeous event.

Those hot days I've been mentioning, well, Thursday June 9th was the hottest (100!!) and that afternoon I had arranged to photograph my clients from May 14th in a field near the Manor Tavern. See, May 14th was one of those rainy days and as we drove to the Tavern on Andrea and Matt's wedding day, I saw this amazing wheat field. I actually asked Andrea and Matt about going back and doing some photos there and they were up for it, but I couldn't imagine her entering her reception in a wet dress (the wheat field was up to knee level). So, I offered to go back after they returned from their honeymoon in Aruba and they were up for it!

Luckily, the clouds came out just as we headed over to the field. The Oh So Pretty team of Lisa Martel and Stephanie Bradshaw and the lovely Ashley, offered to provide some fun props for the session and I think what we made turned out beautifully! For all of your brides and grooms, ask your photographer about doing a photo session in the dress either the week before or perhaps the day or week after your wedding. You'll get amazing photos!!! enjoy!!!

Amy & Jerome ~ Engaged!!!

So, last week I had the pleasure of photographing Amy Epstein and Jerome McManus. Amy is one of my all-time favorite florists - her work is amazing and she is so much fun to work with. Check out her cool site and stop by her awesome, amazing store in Roland Park to see more.... Crimson and Clover.

Amy and Jerome chose AVAM as they had their first date at the museum. In addition to having the fabulous AVAM museum as a backdrop, the "oh so pretty" team of Stephanie Bradshaw and Lisa Martel brought a little fun to the session with their new line of "Oh So Pretty Props" - check them out on facebook.

Jennifer & Dawson ~ Engineer's Club

So, May and June this year have been crazy on the weather front. Record breaking highs followed by gorgeous sunny fall like days. Fortunately, June 4th ended up not being one of the record breakers. Jennifer and Dawson had a beautiful day. Each started out at their family homes in Roland Park and Homeland, and then headed to St. Ignatius on Calvert Street. After a beautiful ceremony, the couple enjoyed some private time together while walking up to their reception at the Engineer's Club.

Gorgeous florals in soft blues with hydrangeas and more were designed by Connie Fitzpatrick and other members of the Walters Art Museum's Women's Committee.

Lindsey and Brian were married this past April 30th at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore. The bride's dress was a Priscilla of Boston design and make up was by Karen Weiner, Studio of Make-Up.

Reception followed at the old Baltimore Country Club in Roland Park.

The gorgeous Rainbow cake was by Sweet. Amazing flowers by Belles Fleurs. And,. the bride set up the most amzing photo booth.

Lindsey and Brian enjoyed a honeymoon at the Great Barrier Reef and rainforst of northern Australia with lots of wild and crazy animals!

Chelsea & Jason at the Peabody Library, April 2, 2011

April showers? While Saturday, April 2nd started with a rain shower, it ended in a beautiful sunny day for Chelsea and Jason's wedding at St. Ignatius followed by a gorgeous reception at the Peabody Library.

Two New Yorkers, Chelsea and Jason, first met at the University of Virginia 13 years ago through a mutual friend (Matt, one of the groomsmen). Moving to NYC right out of school, Jason spent a lot of time in Chelsea's bed those first few years, however, it was always without Chelsea in it. Chelsea was working a ton and apparently Jason would crash at her apartment when she was travelling for business. Anyway, it wasn't until almost 10 years later, when he stopped by her Christmas party in 2007 that the two finally got together. And you pretty much know the rest of the story... "we've been stuck together ever since that night"

Last night, April 4th, was another spectacular night with James Beard Award Winning Chef - Jeff Michaud of Osteria in Philadelphia. Fabulously designed tables ofour many favorite designers were on hand giving guests gorgeous table displays to view while enjoying their multi course gourmet extravaganza and a stellar silent auction - Dinner at Chef Perrier's home for 16 (chef at Le Bec Fin), went for just $17,000! Amy & Jon, the Tremont Grand

No better day to get married than on the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade - March 13th at the Tremont Grand! Amy and Jon have been one of the most fun and sweetest couples I've had the pleasure to work with this year and they were willing to brave the crowds and celebrate the holiday by joining in the Charles Street parade. Amy's gorgeous gown came from Francescas Bridal. Christine of Fleur de Lis, provided the gorgeous flowers. Lauren of the Tremont did a fabulous job of coordinating and keeping these moving beautifully and Jason of Absolute Entertainment got the crowd moving after Amy & Jon's unbelievable first dance.

So, while Amy and Jon had one of the most fun and beautiful weddings, you must read their proposal story. Just go to Amy and Jon's Wedding, to hear how Jon choregraphed family and friends from Illinois, NYC and Philly to be there to celebrate the big moment at the Brewer's Art.

Couture Bridal Design Shoot

This past Fall, we had the opportunity to do a fashion photo session with Couture Bridal Designer, Lisa Garcia Rivera. The dresses were exquisite and the best part, Lisa's right here in Maryland - working out of her studio in Bethesda. She works with each individual client to design and create the dress of their dreams. Clients are invited to bring in their own ideas, browse her sample collection and work with the designer to choose fabrics, colors, and couture details such as beading, embroidery or hand-pleating. Gowns are custom-made to fit each client perfectly. Her style is elegant, classic and timeless.

Lisa has been designing wedding gowns for as long as she can remember. After receiving a Fashion Design Degree in Toronto, Canada, she began her career as an assistant designer, training under boutique bridal and contemporary Toronto designers. She then started to create one-of-a-kind gowns for private clients under her own name, and fell in love with the process of helping each bride realize their dream dress.
Lisa had always dreamed of studying Haute Couture in Paris, and in 2003 she decided it was time. She attended the world’s premier fashion school for Haute Couture - La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris, where she received her diploma in Couture Design. After showing her final designs at the Louvre, she apprenticed at well-known Parisian Haute Couture Houses and learned priceless secrets of the trade. She finds inspiration in the designs of the Haute Couture masters, such as Lanvin and Vionnet. The best way to enjoy a cold March day - an engagement photo session, of course! Despite being a bit chilly, it was a gorgeous sunny day and Chelsea and Jason were great sports climbing all over the Baltimore Museum of Art grounds and Wyman Park in Baltimore's on Charles Village.

Now residing in NYC's Union Square, Chelsea and Jason are getting married in Baltimore - Jason's hometown. The wedding will take place the first weekend in April at the gorgeous St. Ignatius Chapel, followed by a reception at the Peabody Library.
